National Research Council Canada (NRC) is pleased to offer the unique opportunity of a guided technical tour of acoustical facilities in Ottawa. The technical tour is planned for the morning of Thursday, 27 August - the day following the Inter-Noise 2009 Conference.

Buses will depart the Westin Ottawa Hotel at 8:00 a.m. and take participants to acoustical facilities of the three participating institutes – Institute for Aerospace Research, Institute for National Measurement Standards, and Institute for Research in Construction. Participants will be returned to the Westin Ottawa Hotel at about 13:00.

The cost for the tour is $35 (CAD).
Space is limited and will be filled on a first-come first-served basis.

• Low-speed aerodynamic wind tunnels for aeronautical and non-aeronautical applications including aeroacoustics (Montreal Rd. Campus)
• High Intensity Noise Reverberant Chamber (Uplands Campus)



Institute for National Measurement Standards (INMS)

• Laboratories where the primary Canadian standards for acoustical and vibration measurements (calibration of microphones and accelerometers) are realised. (Montreal Rd. Campus)



Institute for Research in Construction (IRC)

• Facilities to characterise airborne and impact sound through floors in the Floor Facility, and through complete building systems in the eight room Flanking Sound Transmission Facility. (Montreal Rd. Campus)
