Dear Colleagues,

I am very happy to invite you to participate in ACTIVE 2009, the 2009 International Symposium on Active Control of Sound and Vibration. The ACTIVE conferences provide a unique opportunity to exchange and share on up-to-date research and new directions in active control with international colleagues. They are held every 2 or 3 years at locations that alternate between North-American and non North-American venues.

The past editions are:

ACTIVE 2009, sponsored and co-organised by the Institute of Noise Control Engineering-USA, will be held in Ottawa Canada, from 20–22 August 2009, immediately before the INTER-NOISE 2009 Congress, thus allowing participants to attend both the ACTIVE conference and the INTER-NOISE Congress in a one-week time frame. The ACTIVE 2009 technical program will extend over 2 ½ days and will feature 5 plenary lectures followed by 3 parallel technical sessions with oral presentations.

The INTER-NOISE 2009, and ACTIVE2009, will be held at the Westin Ottawa Hotel, which is located in the heart of Canada’s Nation’s capital close to all major attractions, Parliament Buildings, National Gallery, Royal Mint, and more than 12 national museums, etc. It is our pleasure to welcome you to INTER-NOISE 2009 and ACTIVE 2009 and invite you to participate fully in all aspects of the Congress and Symposium. We look forward to meeting you in Ottawa, a culturally rich and dynamic city.
