Information for Authors - Both INTERNOISE 2009 and ACTIVE 2009
UPDATE 2009 July7:
Instructions for Oral Presentations
Authors should bring their presentations (in PowerPoint or PDF format) on a USB drive or CD-ROM, and must upload them to the computer in the Speaker Ready Room at least one day before their scheduled presentation. Congress staff will assist authors in uploading their files, and will transfer the presentation files to the computers in the presentation rooms. Computers will be available in the Speaker Ready Room so that authors can check their presentations.
The Speaker Ready Room is the Prince Edward Island Room, located on the Fourth Floor of the Westin Ottawa Hotel, and will be open during the following hours:
- Sunday 23rd 13:00 – 20:00 hours
- Monday 24th 08:00 – 20:00 hours
- Tuesday 25th 08:00 – 20:00 hours
- Wednesday 26th 08:00 – 13:00 hours
Authors of Invited and Contributed papers will be allocated 15 minutes for oral presentations, and 3 minutes for questions and answers. 2 minutes will be allocated for change-over to the next presenter. Session chairs have the responsibility to ensure the session stays on time, and will enforce this timing.
Authors must identify themselves to the session chair in the meeting room no later than 20 minutes before the start of their session. Authors who do not present themselves at least 20 minutes before the start of their session may have their presentations cancelled.
In the event that an author does not appear for his or her presentation, a gap will be left in the program so that all other presentations in the session will occur at the times published in the final program.
Each meeting room will be equipped with a PC computer running Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat Reader, a projector and screen, and a laser pointer. Any additional equipment, including systems for audio playback, is considered special equipment. Requests for special equipment must be made to the Technical Co-Chairs by 2009, July 20. Requests for special equipment will be fulfilled if possible, but are not guaranteed.
Instructions for Poster Presentations
The poster area is located in Confederation Ballroom I, on the Fourth Floor of the Westin Ottawa Hotel. This is a high-traffic area, near the internet café, the refreshments served during breaks, and the exhibit booths. Poster boards and fasteners will be provided. The space allocated for each poster is 120 cm by 120 cm (4 feet by 4 feet). Poster boards will be numbered, and each author must use only the board with the number matching their poster number (as listed in the program schedule).
Posters should be posted at 12:00 on Monday August 24, and are to remain posted until 18:00 Tuesday August 25.
Authors are requested to be present at their poster during the breaks (15:20 – 15:40 on Monday; 10:20 – 10:40, and 15:20 – 15:40 on Tuesday).
Student Paper Competition
A student paper competition will take place at INTER-NOISE 2009. A number of student paper awards of up to $1000 each will be awarded. Additionally, winners will receive a CD containing PDF versions of volumes 1-48 of the Noise Control Engineering Journal. Papers will be judged on quality of both the written submission as well as the oral presentation at INTER-NOISE 2009. Full competition rules and a competition entry form are available here.
All registrants for INTER-NOISE 2009 or ACTIVE 2009 will receive a printed booklet containing all abstracts, the final technical program, and a CD that will include all INTER-NOISE 2009 and ACTIVE 2009 papers. Conference organizers reserve the right to schedule papers for appropriate sessions and appropriate format (poster versus oral presentation).
